A few years ago, there was an incident in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, where local officials hung a tall black curtain/wall to block the view of ‘Mount Fuji’ and the ‘Lawson‘ convenience store, due to the overtourism and crowded population. However, the decision to hang the black curtain at the site has brought many people to discuss the incident and concept of blocking an entire ‘view’.
“Peeking For A View” is a publication that was written based on the event of the ‘Mount Fuji Lawson’ incident and discusses the topic over the ownership of a view, and asking the question of whether a view is something that can be owned or controlled by an individual or human being.
