Hello, my name is Jung Hyun Kim, and I am a designer and artist who is currently based in London. I would like to describe my practice as ‘multidisciplinary’, experimenting with a variety of themes and mediums. From creating colorful illustrations to toy-like objects and publications to dreamy photos, I am interested in intertwining multiple fields of design and art through different projects. However, within a wide spectrum, a goal that I always wish to fulfill is to create simple and playful pieces that are accessible to all people from different generations and cultures.
Personally, design and art have been, for me, a visual tool and language for communicating with other people. The way visual drawings can help speak emotions and stories that are often hard to express with words is something that has always inspired and comforted me. I aim to create work for people to interpret the piece in their own way, exploring multiple ways of discussing simple daily themes to deep, complex questions and emotions within our lives. One day, no matter who or where or how, I hope to create work that people can enjoy and interpret in their own way.
